As sculptors we know the time, money and heartache that can go into trying to beg, borrow and buy the heavy duty equipment and space needed to make sculpture. It has taken us a long time to get the table saw, band saw, welding equipment, etc. all in one place. We always wonder about how much more work we would have made had all these things been readily available to us from the beginning. This is what gave us the idea to create the Philadelphia Sculpture Gym, a community based sculpture workshop that would operate similar to a gym membership. Sculptors and craftspeople would pay for a membership and get access to the above tools (and more). We would also offer lockers (storage space) and personal training sessions (one-on-one help with projects). With our experience running and working in college sculpture shops, commercial foundries, sculpture fabrication shops, and classrooms, we know that between the two of us we have what it takes to help the sculptors of Philadelphia get their work made and out into the world without chopping off any of their fingers or catching on fire
